My name is Christina Stallings. I am from Kansas City, Missouri, and I am married to an alcoholic. My husband’s name is Bill, and we have been married for 20 years. We have been through quite a journey together. Bill is now sober, and he has been for 10 years, but the first 10 years of our marriage was very rocky to say the least. We almost divorced several times. I didn’t realize it at the time, but the truth was that Bill had a disease that he needed to be treated for: alcoholism.
10 years ago, I left Bill, and we were separated. We were apart for three months before he hit his bottom and decided to go to a rehabilitation facility to get help for his disease. After he successfully completed rehab, he started working the steps in Alcoholics Anonymous. Once he had six months sober, he and I went out for dinner, and I was absolutely amazed at how much better he seemed.
We got back together that night and have been happily together ever since.
In my journey of being married to an alcoholic, I have learned quite a few things. I wanted to start this blog for everyone else who needs help and doesn’t know where to turn because their spouse is an alcoholic. So if that is you, I urge you to look around on the blog.
